Work. WOW.

So appearently work is not work anymore. I went to this fabled place today and it turns out that it is insane. I work for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) it is located pretty much on Leonard street. I went today with Sarah Schipper for our first day of work. So we sit around in a room for 45 minutes (although we were only 15 minutes early) they don't have a sense of time, i guess. So then after sitting, i was kinda waiting for a meeting, since we were all gathered, but instead everyone just left their own seperate ways and that was that. WHAT? So Sarah and I got to sit in this same room and watch 7 movies on safety and the PPG and the DSAS or something. It was so boring. I only got 3 hours of sleep last night because i got home at 2:30 from Grand Haven.

SO ANYWAY- there was one good movie, it was about slipping and the importance of not doing it. Yep, that's right- a 30 minute video about not falling. O. . . . K. So then (after a little snack break) Lynn (one of our 2 supervisors who is VERY cute and nice, but talked about marrying her 2-year boyfriend today- in case anyone was interested)gave us our hard hat, vest, goggles, sunglasses, and gloves and showed us around and told us where we were going for the day: To some park that is 1 hour away and varnish some steps with 3 other workers. 1 hour? Yep, one hour. "We drive all the time, sometimes we drive so much we don't get much done." Yep, i would soon discover that exactly. So We get ready to drive in our HUGE new red dodge pickupto this place and find out we can't go, it is too wet to varnish. So we turn around to go to some random place like Ferryville to do what we did for the next 8 hours- pick up trash at car pool places.

So this may sound like a big deal, but it isn't. We drive 45 minutes to a place, pick up about 6 pieces of trash. Then someone is hungry. SNACK BREAK! Then to another place 30 minutes away. 5 pieces of trash, then LUNCH! Not your average one- oh no. We are supposed to get a 15 minute break every 4 hours and a 30 minute lunch break. So we sit down for about an 1:15 minute lunch break. So about 4 more hours to go. We go to a beach somewhere and pick up some trash and sit and talk for 30 minutes. Could this get any more lazy? THEN (this is great) Lynn leaves us with Dawn. Who is possibly the laziest person ever. We go to Hudsonville and it is about 2:30; Dawn doesn't get out- "Nap time!" she says. Is she kidding? Nope. She is definately sleeping. So i doze off too. 45 minutes later we all wake up and pick up major trash. Hudsonville does not appreciate nature at all, we got the most pollution i have ever seen at that place. Ridiculous. So that was it. We then drove back to our place. We also had to clean out a truck at some point in the day. WOW. I felt like i was pissing all over the state of Michigan; they pay us to do NOTHING.

I'll have to tell you about the idiots i work with another time. They add a special touch to it all. God bless those idiots.

Fireworks at the Beach were awesome. Absolutely GREAT! I guess the rain sucked, but the fireworks were so worth it. I have never seen such great works of fire in my whole life, i swear.

So i have some work to be doing, but i am being held up right now. Sucks ass. But everyone hold on loosely. I will be back with more story tomorrow. You can bet your no-so-hard-earned dollar.
